🧩 Laying the Foundation

I’m finally creating a proper Product Requirements Document (PRD) for the Goals app, soon to be followed by the FRD and SRS. It feels good. Structured. Like I’m finally translating what’s in my head into something tangible that AI (and maybe even other humans) can understand.

In the past, I’d jump straight into building…no blueprint, just intuition and excitement. That worked…until it didn’t. I’d reach a point where features clashed or workflows didn’t make sense, and I’d have to rebuild sections from scratch. But now, AI has changed the rules.

🤖 A New Development Paradigm

Before, I wasn’t sure if I could actually build what I imagined. Now, that uncertainty’s gone. AI can spin up MVPs, generate code for common features, and handle the heavy lifting. The real bottleneck isn’t the technology anymore…it’s me.

If I provide the AI with clarity (a detailed intention, vision, and flow) it can execute far faster than if I guide it piece by piece. The new bottleneck is communication, not capability. That’s why this documentation matters.

🧠 The Third Wave

I think we’re entering what I’d call the third wave of software development.

• Wave 1: The engineers; people who studied comp sci, mastered syntax, and built the frameworks we use today.

• Wave 2: The self taught creators; indie devs and builders who learned through bootcamps, YouTube, and endless trial and error.

• Wave 3: The AI guided architects; people who understand systems, logic, and vision more than syntax. Those who don’t just code, but communicate their ideas to AI clearly enough that it can build them.

In this third wave, the skill set isn’t deep technical knowledge…it’s clarity, curiosity, and communication. Knowing how to remove ambiguity. How to describe exactly what you mean. How to think in systems.

🌍 Why It Matters

The moat is lowering. Anyone with genuine curiosity and a structured process can now build something meaningful…an app, a system, a tool that solves a real problem.

That’s what excites me most. Not just the money (though that’s a nice bonus), but the ability to turn thoughts into systems that help people.

It’s a new era of creation, one where clarity becomes code.
